How to Grow Mushrooms at Home
Mushroom logs need to be kept in a shady, humid, and warm environment with good air circulation to prevent mould. They should be stored near a water source as they need to be kept moist during incubation and fruiting stages. Good storage locations include:
- Against a Building: Provides shade.
- South-facing Slope or Basin: Keeps logs warm and humid.
- Under a Forest Canopy: Prevents direct sunlight from reaching the logs.
- Underneath Shade Netting: Offers protection from direct sunlight.
Ensure the location is easily accessible. During the summer months, the logs need to be watered at least every couple of days.
Pro tip: Submerge your logs completely underwater for 10 seconds to ensure your logs are completely saturated with water.
